Set up a FiveM / GTA V server

Cfx.re license, player slots, resources, database and artifact updates.

FiveM has its own hosting offer and settings page. We install the official Linux server and base resources. A personal Cfx.re server license is required before the first start.

Step by step

  1. Choose FiveM Server in the public configurator, select resources and duration, then order. The hosting baseline is 4 GB RAM, 2 vCores and 20 GB storage; frameworks and player load can require more.
  2. Open FiveM settings. Create a free server license at https://portal.cfx.re/ for the displayed node IP and save the key. It is intentionally not shown again. Never share it in support screenshots.
  3. Set the server name, project description, locale, tags and maximum players. Keep OneSync On unless your scripts require otherwise. Your Cfx.re entitlements still apply; slots are not a performance guarantee.
  4. Start the server and inspect the live console. In the FiveM client, press F8 and enter connect followed by the IP:port from the overview. The panel maps the assigned game port for both TCP and UDP.
  5. Upload resources to /server/resources with the file manager or FTP. A resource needs fxmanifest.lua or __resource.lua. In FiveM settings, enable autostart or start/restart individual resources on the running server.
  6. Frameworks such as ESX and QBCore are installed separately following their documentation. Find your included database in FTP/MySQL; use these credentials in your framework configuration. Do not use localhost to connect to the hosting database.
  7. Create a backup before changing the server. In Versions, choose Recommended or Latest and confirm the stop. The update replaces only the runtime artifacts, preserving your configuration and resources. Afterwards, start the server yourself.
  8. The GTA V game build is a separate optional numeric setting. Normal starts and resource/hosting configuration changes do not update the artifacts. Reinstalling deletes your files and license configuration; back up first.

Check the result

If startup fails, check the Cfx.re license, its registered IP, server console, resource dependencies and available storage. Contact support with the server ID and support reference, without sharing your license key.

Important

txAdmin is included in the FiveM server files and requires separate setup. Complete roleplay frameworks are also not preconfigured. Minecraft tools do not apply to FiveM. Use the hosting console, settings, file manager and database tools.
