Open a supported text file in the file manager. Syntax highlighting helps with editing, but a syntactically valid file can still contain invalid application settings.
Step by step
- Download a copy before editing an important configuration.
- Use line numbers and wrap mode to navigate. Display wrapping does not add real newline characters to the file.
- Review the reported syntax error location, especially indentation in YAML and commas or quotes in JSON.
- Save with the button next to Close, then reload or restart the application if that setting requires it.
Check the result
Saving is allowed even with syntax warnings. Check the server log after applying changes.
Important
A running server or plugin can overwrite its configuration. Stop it first if it saves the same file on shutdown.
